Constance has a rich background in international women’s empowerment and education, social justice, and human rights. She lived in Egypt where she conducted her doctoral research. Subsequently she moved to Asia (Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia) as country director and regional director for Pact, Inc. a US-based non-profit targeting HIV/AIDS, street children and environmental management. Additional positions have included Global Program Director for Oxfam America. Senior Advisor for World Education in West Africa, and Vice President/Chief Operating Officer for the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, a human rights organization based in Cambridge Massachusetts. She is the founding Director of Empowered to Educate (www.empoweredtoeducate.org) a global fellowship program for women educators.
She chairs the Board of Advisors of the Heller School at Brandeis University, is a Board member of the Brandeis Women and Genders Studies, sits on the Advisory Committee for ARTE (Art and Resistance through Education) and the Boston Network of International Donors Board. She is an avid choral singer and is thrilled to join the Board of The Berkshire Choral International, with whom she has performed since 2002.
